I get to keep 5 players per season. Players may be kept for a maximum of two consecutive off-seasons, and then are forced back into the Draft Pool. All players listed are eligible to be kept for both the 2015 and 2016 seasons, except those listed in red, who can only be kept for 2015, and then would need to go back into the Draft Pool. I don't have to commit to them for 2 years, but if I have them at the end of the 2015 season, they are eligible to be kept again. Which 5 make the cut?
C/1B - Carlos Santana, 3.5 PPG, #1 C SS/2B - Dee Gordon, 3.7 PPG, #1 SS SS - Hanley Ramirez, 3.5 PPG, #9 SS OF - Kole Calhoun, 3.5 PPG
SP - Hisashi Iwakuma, 15.1 PPG SP - Ervin Santana, 13.8 PPG RP - Wade Davis, 4.5 PPG SP - Matt Harvey, 19.3 PPG in 2013 SP - Jason Hammel, 12.8 PPG SP - Phil Hughes, 15.4 PPG SP - Matt Shoemaker, 13.3 PPG SP - Carlos Carrasco, 8.1 PPG (21.9 PPG as a Starter) SP - Andrew Heaney, 3.1 PPG SP - Jesse Hahn, 13.1 PPG SP - Ian P. Kennedy, 13.7 PPG
My initial thought is to keep Hanley, Harvey, Carrasco, Iwakuma, and maybe Santana? That way I can spend my first several picks on big bats, and then sharp for bargain pitching to round out my rotation later. Do I consider Gordon? I'm worried about massive regression potential. Do I gamble on Heaney?

Does Santana still have C eligibility in your league?

Does Santana still have C eligibility in your league? He's going to lose it, as he needs 20 G to carry into a following season. I had thought it was only 10 to carry over, and that his 11 would suffice, but I guess not. Welp, that only muddies the waters further for me, since there's like a half dozen guys vying for that 5th slot...

Santana should qualify at 3B though so that helps. I'd hold onto him, HanRam, Iwakuma, Harvey and Carasco as well. I'd rather take the risk with Carasco that he can repeat than risk Heaney. I could easily see swapping Carasco for Gordon though. I'm assuming sb's are worth a lot of points based on his PPG last year. I haven't played a points league in years though so take what I say with a grain of salt.
And then all bats at the beginning of the draft.

Not impressed with the bats you have available - I like your initial thoughts to keep the arms and draft the bats.

Not impressed with the bats you have available - I like your initial thoughts to keep the arms and draft the bats. I unloaded my top keeper options for bats mid-season, which left me with no keepable bats -- wound up having to drop Beltre, Pujols, McCutchen, Bautista... I sent away all my real good keeper options to try and win the league, which I thankfully did. In past years I've tried the same only to finish 2nd or 3rd, and still have no premium keepers. The question is really over the final keeper slot... Santana as a 3B, Gordon, or maybe Hammel or Hughes even?

Dee Gordon #1 SS - regression or not he's gonna play/lead off/run/& and score - my choice here over Santana\Hammel or Hughes
