Hey, does anyone want proof that both Kemp's speed and power are diminishing rapidly as he ages? Just send him to try to patrol the largest outfield in baseball and have him try to hit baseballs out of that same giant outfield 81 games a year.
Aging outfileder, meet Petco park. Petco, aging outfielder.

Kemp seemed to find himself (his health?) in the 2nd half of last year. His AVG went up 40 points despite his BABIP dropping, he slugged .606, with a near-.300 ISO, etc. His biggest drawback is that he doesn't steal bases anymore -- but if for some reason that changes with the move to San Diego, he could have some value, despite the potential drop in HR. He could possibly be a big doubles hitter, and score some runs. Again, this is all best case scenario, but at least his price tag will be bottom basement, so there's a chance for a nice ROI.

He's healthy now. And he routinely hit balls out of Petco to right-center.
Slg% @petco
2014 - 0.423 2013 - 0.250 (just 20 AB) 2012 - 0.839 (!!) 2011 - 0.622
When the swing is right there is not a park in the league that can hold him. The swing looked VERY right in the 2nd half last season. In a vacuum, this trade was a steal for the Padres.

If healthy, this is good for the Padres. Duh-jerks must have really wanted out of that contract
