Rumors swirling about a possible Dodgers/Marlins Gordon and Heaney swap, after reports that Gordon was going "no where" earlier today by Dod-jizz. Love Winter meetings.

Wowowowowowowow that's the one of the biggest sell-highs I've ever seen. The Marlins forgot to bring their rape whistle to the table with Friedman? Deal recap: A no-power 2B with 3 terrible seasons and one decent season under his belt (and a career 68/217 BB/K) + an over the hill and $10mil Dan Haren........ for a majors ready ace, a late-blooming reliever, a cheap hitter who can play every position and a SABR-stat C/2B/3B. Marlins tanking already?

Heaney is not an ace or anything close to it. But it's still a brilliant move because Gordon is Gordon.

Even though he's with the hated Duh-gers I still get goo-goo eyes if Friedman makes a move.
"Friedman has tr-" "mmmmyyyesss?" (pre-emptively gives 50 thumbs up) "-aded his whole team for Neifi Perez and a Starbucks lid" (swoon)

Heard Haren said he wouldn't report to Miami - but THEY* told Miami they'd pay the $10 mil option if he did and if he doesn't show both teams are off the Haren hook. *fuck the Giants and their fair weather fans.

I now understand the inclusion of Dan Haren. The Dodgers wanted out of the contract and the easiest way is if he retires. Brilliant.

LA will regret this trade. This was the first time in several years where Kemp was able to go into an offseason without rehabbing. I cannot express how important that is. He fixed his stance in the 2nd half getting more upright. The shoulder was obviously feeling better as he stopped spinning on the ball and was able to get his hands inside and extent. That vintage swing was back. The Padres stole one here, IMO. I would have preferred to start Guerrero and 2B and have 6 years of control of Heaney rather than 1 yr of Howie. I understand that the emphasis here is IF defense and OBP (capitalizing on a players' perceived maximum value; Gordon/Kemp), but this is pretty extreme. Unless there is another piece coming back to LA (Hamels?) I fear that they have taken a step backwards overall.

Yep.. I don't mind getting Rollins and liked the Gordon deal to Miami. But keep Heaney and play Guerrero and don't trade Kemp when we need hitting. Just dump Ethier on someone instead even though you get nothing back. Unless they get Scherzer or Hamels this Kemp trade was bad.

My take on the Kemp trade - they need Joc to play center since Friedman won't ignore defense. Even if they released Ethier they still have too many corner OF'ers. Imo they are content with Puig and CC on the corners of what now becomes a pretty good defensive OF. This was an excellent move by the Padres to take advantage of their situation.
FWIW - CC had a better WAR than Kemp last year. I would rather have Kemp for the short term but Kemp was also tradeable and the Dodgers are partially out from underneath the 5 remaining years that probably won't end well.
