The Athletics’ return includes outfield prospect Trayce Thompson, Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles tweets. The 23-year-old Thompson, a second-round pick in 2009, hit .237/.324/.419 in 595 plate appearances with Double-A Birmingham in 2014. He’s demonstrated good power and speed throughout his minor-league career, but has just a .237 career batting average in six years as a pro.
The White Sox and Athletics had been close to a trade involving Jeff Samardzija, and now the deal is complete, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweets. Previous reporting from Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports had indicated that the deal would include Marcus Semien and prospects, but the Athletics’ exact haul isn’t yet known.

Yeah, a 23 year old .237 double A hitter certainly can't be enough for Samardzija. On another note, it's too bad the A's went all in for the playoffs but are now all out with the departure of all those new arms. :/

MLBTR thinks we're getting M.Semien (lolname) and Chris Bassitt Semien feels like a potential Ben Zobrist to me, if he's coming to us this could be a huge win. We could also be sending someone else if we're getting more then 2 prospects. So far Billy has jettisoned (projected 2015 contracts) Samardzija's 9mil, Moss' 7mil, Donaldson's 4.5mil and added Lawrie's 2.5mil and Butler's 5mil. (Yes that is his salary in 2015) I was expecting Kazmir's 11mil to be first out the door, but I guess not .

I was expecting Kazmir's 11mil to be first out the door, but I guess not . I'm sure that it's coming. He may be able to land a better return once some of the FA starters come off of the board. I think that Boston is a team that ultimately gets left standing there without the big FA starter. Their system is loaded too.

White Sox acquired RHP Jeff Samardzija and RHP Michael Ynoa from the Athletics for INF Marcus Semien, RHP Chris Bassitt, 1B Rangel Ravelo, and C Josh Phegley
Good. Oakland really need another catcher.

They seem to have acquired a lot of guys that had nice SABR stats in the minors in their recent trades. This is quite a decline in value from Addison Russell however.
Is Derek Norris also on the block (Phegley is a RH catcher)?
