Can anyone give me some insight with this jumbled Astros bullpen? We have our draft on Monday and I'm trying to decide whether or not to protect Gregerson. I know he signed the big contract over the winter but he doesn't really have the track record of a proven closer. Fields looks like he has the tools but I thing theres three or four guys in front of him. Neshek blossomed last year but also doesn't have a history of closing. And Qualls, who quietly had a decent year last year, doesn't even seem to be talked about although I guess he isn't really the prototypical closer. Help, please!!

I would just avoid the situation altogether. Houston has revolving closer door written all over it. But you didnt tell us nearly enough about your league settings (actually you told us nothing) for us to help with your specific question though. Some leagues value closers like SP's. Some leagues have closers on the wire.

OK so they wouldn't have signed TWO new guys if Qualls had a lock on the job. So it's probably not him. Both Neshek and Gregerson have games finished escalators in their contracts. Hinch was interviewed a day or two ago and is still not saying who. All 3 are healthy and pitching well.
My horse in this race: Neshek was an elite RP last year (on my peripheral-based spreadsheet I have him 5th best). I think Gregerson is the "high leverage guy" and Neshek is "9th innings saves vacuum"

Thanks for your prompt responses guys! The league is a 12 team AL only 4x4. All closers of course are owned and if any replacements become available on the waiver wire they are quickly snapped up. I can keep either (or both I suppose) of Gregerson and Qualls as they each will be $6 (out of a team budget of $260)for the upcoming year.
