Clemens got more votes than Bonds. Can anyone think of a single reason for that? East Coast bias. I think East Coast bias doesn't really apply to players of Bonds stature. It's more about good players going under the radar because they aren't in the national spotlight. You can't really say that for bonds.

How the hell do they not put Piazza in. He had pimples on his butt and played in the steroids era. Shouldn't be too surprising with these voters.

Clemens got more votes than Bonds. Can anyone think of a single reason for that? Bonds couldn't use the opposite field. marginal hitter.

I'm with h0rt, the all time hits leader and the all time home run leader aren't in it. How can you take it seriously? It's not a hall of fame its a cool kids club.

It's not like if you go to the HOF you don't find references and historical video/memorabilia from these players all over the place. They just don't get to make that speech. I'm okay with that.

If Mattingly still gets 9.1% how does Albert Belle get none? Injury ended careers, but one was a beloved Yankee he continues to get votes.. They were both amazing for a stretch of time. Its a shame.

Exactly.. Didn't mean its a shame in that sense.. Meant Mattingly still gets false hope by being on the ballot.
Those 2 were awesome in their time..
Hall of Fame annoys me with players getting in who run up stats just because they were mediocre for 20 years.
In Belle you have 10 years of incredible seasons & then he's retired with injuries. Mattingly similar situation.

Mattingly similar situation. Typically players need to have both longevity and peak stats. I guess you could say that a 2Bman with 20HR's and a .400 OBP at his peak (a 9 year peak) is mediocre but that's a pretty damn good player even if nobody took their children to see him (the Bill Simmons argument against). And I think your argument is better used as a reason why player X shouldn't be in the HOF instead of player Y should be in the HOF because player X is.

Still hilarious that the best player to ever play the game isn't in the hall of fame. It's impossible to take hall of fame voting seriously at this point. right?

Honestly racism one of the only things I can come up with. is always been that way though. they both had the same type of personality. Clemens was loved for it, and Bonds was the pariah. The HOF is the biggest joke of a museum ever. Right up there with the ball of twine museum. it'll never see me visiting.

But, most importantly, the 2nd weekend in august every year there is a Twine Ball days parade. This is very fun, because it's the one time a year I go to the bar and drink a shitload of $1 beers with numerous people that have between 1/4 and 3/4 of their teeth left. don't dis.
