Are you able to make the distinction between having a poor season (peripheral wise) and not being very good?
Considering his 2013 season I think he's still a really intriguing arm. If he was a lock to be a #2 then he wouldn't be available for a soon to be FA.

Strange to think that Heyward could draw a contract similar to what the Cardinals offered to Pujols before he left.

If he was a lock to be a #2 then he wouldn't be available for a soon to be FA. Big arm, yes, but he needs a quality 3rd offering or he's nothing more than a Jeremy Bonderman clone. He's started to mix in a cutter, but he doesn't throw it much. I can't remember seeing it in the handful of appearances I watched down the stretch.

I personally think that The loss of Taveras prompted this move and Miller is going to thrive in Atl which he may not have in STL.
