I would think March, April and May would be the sweet spot for traffic to a fantasy baseball site. The fact that we are in March again and nothing has changed speaks volumes.

I like how he's sending these messages to guys who haven't been on the cafe in forever. Shows how much they know about what's going on. I never understood why the cafe had moderators who were not active and did not cycle them out for new ones aka people with thousands of posts a year who knew what they were talking about. Until ayebatter was promoted, I never saw a single new moderator after like 5+ years, that's unreal.

For what it's worth, I just popped over there for a minute and all the forums are cleaned up. No BS.

Cleaning up a forum of spam shouldn't be the only accomplishment for an entire offseason. The season starts in a matter of months and they have wasted another offseason.

I just went over and every post has been answered by B-Chad. He has great deals on Jordan's and Louis Vuitton purses. Then I clicked on the Football side (haven't been there for years) and it's one white page with text all over it. Horrendous

They did something. The forums are kind of a mess still but it's solid progress.

If they're really putting forth effort, and open and accepting of the suggestions and advice of the lot of us, I'm fine going back to the Cafe. I'm certainly not going to sit here and be bitter. That seems counter-productive. It looks like there's a slightly different look to the FBC than the FFC (which I agree is still horrendous). They still need to dump all of the team-specific forums, re-organize things, etc. If he updates the forum software, without losing any of its history, creates a more concise, and organized forum, with a front page that makes sense, and has the potential to show good content, should we create it, then what's the hub bub?

The hub bub is that nothing happened for 2-3 years. Based on what I have seen so far I would go back since they have now done something. The first thing in basically a decade for the FBC. Hopefully they overhaul the look of the forum and get rid of over half of the forums and subforums. I'm not the biggest fan of the football forum but the old baseball forum was pretty awful from a functionality standpoint.
In addition to that this is unlikely to be a thriving forum. We don't have the numbers starting out. We also don't have really active members (forum, blogging, and little projects). I think most of us are really busy and can't really commit to anything significant.

Sup guys...
I still maintain that the day they started over-moderating the Game Commentary, Cheering & Venting section is when they signed their own death warrant. It didn't happen right away, but slowly and surely it happened.

I've exchanged several e-mails with this Sam person, and he seems to have an extremely open mindset regarding feedback with respect to the Cafe. He only took over about a month ago, and agrees in full with all of the forum suggestions that I personally (and many others here) have been lobbying for for several years. He has not been dismissive, has asked follow up questions to some of my suggestions regarding implementation or how important I feel they are, and seems like a generally good dude. I spoke a lot about having the front page content link to the forums, to having the content display properly so that the writers feel their work is being displayed and reaching people, and the importance of some of our great specific content that has existed on the forums for years, and having it integrate into the front page as articles, that can also be discussed on the forums, instead of your general run of the mill comment style that is prevalent nowadays. Things like the Closer Thread, Median Draft Position, amazing projections by J3 and GF, 3 Up 3 Down, 30 Teams in 30 Days, etc. I mentioned how jaded the general population is, that they put loads of hard work into something, and it was never appreciated, appropriately utilized, or understood when intelligent suggestions were made.
He did mention that there is a lot of back-end stuff going into the forums, that needs to be done so that no content is lost, before merging a lot of the forums that we have been asking about for years, and dumping forums we have been asking about for years (the team forums, for example). He also sent me a video for an idea on integrating the front page content with the forums, but I haven't watched it yet since I'm at work.
I also let him know how ugly the Football Forums were, and he agreed. I said even a few splashes of color here and there beat the white, vanilla garbage that is there. He agreed. He said he was uncertain of exactly how they would be laid out, but that it would not be the same.
What I got out of all of this is, that he's very interested in our input. He (gives the impression, at the very least) values our (at least my) feedback and opinions, and wants to make the Cafe a place worth visiting and spending time at again.
If anyone has any further suggestions for the front page, or the forums, I'd be happy to pass them along if you don't feel like e-mailing yourself. Ultimately, as nice as it is to have these forums with this small group of guys, it'd be a heck of a lot easier if we could just head back to the Cafe, and have not only this group of guys, but also other, new members, where we can actually share our ideas and thoughts, and have a place we represent and are proud of. We had it for a long time, and that time feels so far in the distant past I know it's difficult to imagine, but if they're willing to try and re-create that place with the changes that have occured on the internet, then I'm all for it. I'm certainly not looking to cut off my nose to spite my face. It feels like it's been so long that many of our great ideas have been lost in the shuffle. Again, I'm happy to present them if you'd like to remind me.
