Mazerunners Had no idea what I was going into. It's alright for what it is. Don't let people fool you by compariing it to Hunger Games. It's LOST - all of its good and bad qualities - for a younger generation.
The Signal Gah. What a waste. All sytle, no substance.
The One I Love I'm not going to tell you a damn thing about this movie, and don't you ruin it for yourself by going an looking up anything about it. Just watch it. Thank me later.

Sorry if we have just too much awesome for you to handle down there. I feel sorry for a country that thinks it's more acceptable to see 2 hours of people being brutally murdered than a bit of beaver. Regards, Eton Beaver

I am so geeked to see Interstellar.
Mazerunner compared to LOST is pretty spot on. I haven't seen the movie but I read the 3 books. The is no plan and questions get answered with more questions. As crazy as the first book was it was the one that made the most sense. Don't expect it to get better.

The Never Ending Story (1984) 5/10
So Keith Richards and his mates watch a floppy-haired ponce get a necklace from 1980s Morgan Freeman. Hijinks ensue. Said ponce is largely ineffective, rides a dog/dragon about the place, gets trolled by a giant turtle: "THE PRINCESS IS DYING!" "We don't care" " WHO CAN I TALK TO?" "Someone 10,000 miles away lol goodbye". Kills a wolf. Then some other dickhead yells his mothers name and gets to ride the dog/dragon. The end.
Trippy story, pretty watchable. VERY 80s.

The thing about rating movies from the 80's, despite their brand new box office releases in Australia, is that it's possible that they just don't hold up in 2014. Now, I haven't seen The Neverending Story since probably 1995 or so, so I have no idea what I'd think about it today; but to myself as a 10 year old, in the 90's, it was pretty much the pinnacle of cinema. I imagine, though, that if I were to watch a kids movie from the 80's as a 30 year old man in 2014, I'd probably rate it similarly.
GF, how was Affleck's dong?

Gone Girl - 7/10.
Twisty, turny story. But it just seemed to be missing something. The ending didn't quite seem to resolve the story (maybe the point), some of the scenes/storylines seem unfinished. A good and tense "thriller" but not best picture worthy in my book.
GF - definitely worth watching, but if you send the lady off with friends, it's nothing to really regret missing.
Affleck's Dong - 0/10.
If it was there, I missed it.

The thing is, I don't watch (or enjoy) todays movies unless it is Bond or Sacha Baron Cohen. So it should "hold up" for me more then you (or a normal person lolz) I actually prefer the look of some of the old effects to CGI, which (mostly) looks like shit to me

So it should "hold up" for me more then you (or a normal person lolz) I actually prefer the look of some of the old effects to CGI, which (mostly) looks like shit to me The pot shot I took aside, there are still a lot of movies, shows, etc. that just don't play well in 2014 like they did in their era. Some of it is CGI, but that's not really what I was getting at. The general pacing and tone (and other cinematic words that I don't know and probably can't describe) of films just seem to be different, across eras, and some pieces remain timeless (something like, The Godfather, for example, for me) wheras other movies that were deemed excellent at the time now come off as silly and campy and just outright bad. It also has to do with, as I mentioned, your own state when viewing it. To me, TNES is a great movie that I absolutely loved. But that could simply be nostalgia on my part, thinking back to how much I liked it as a good, the fond memories, etc. If I were watching it for the first time as an adult, it might be an entirely different experience. That was what I was trying to get at, as well. RE: Today's Movies -- the older I get, the less I seem to enjoy movies, and the less frequent I seem to be interested in going to the movies. I don't know if it's lack of quality movies, or just me becoming pickier. I used to be happy to see just about anything, and enjoyed almost anything I watched. Now, I can't remember the last movie I saw in the theater, nor do I anticipate going to see a movie in the theater any time soon. Even when I scan through Netflix there's so little that I really want to watch. I'm more interested in television series. I do generally enjoy the big budget superhero movies, though -- but I go in expecting them to be what they are, and nothing more.

Now, I can't remember the last movie I saw in the theater. Unless it's the 'Lake Arrowhead Foreign Film Club' with the wife I think the last time I went to a theater was 5 or 6 yrs ago (Don't Mess with the Zohan) while waiting for an out of town meeting to start.
