True Detective -- if you missed this when it first aired, you need to watch it, and it's only I think 10 episodes so it's a quick watch.
The League -- Not as consistently funny as in the past, but still very funny, and last episode I thought was great.
The Walking Dead -- I'm pot committed at this point and my fiance loves it, so I continue to watch.
American Horror Story -- the new season starts next week, 'Freak Show', and looks like it could be very good -- I really enjoyed Seasons 1 & 2. 3 I found meh.
Orange is the New Black -- again, my fiance is in love with this show, after all her girlfriends started watching it, so we watched the first 2 seasons on Netflix. If you have to do the 'our show' thing, where you and your significant other watch shows together, you could do worse; but it ain't exactly Shawshank.
One show I keep hearing awesome things about and want to catch On Demand is The Strain on FX or FXX, whichever one it's on.

The Bridge: Imported from Scandinavia, the American version is about the murkiness of El Paso/Ciudad Juarez criminal justice. The network made them import the serial killer plot from Denmark for season one, but once they resolve that (about ep. 11 of 13 in the first season), the show takes off. The second season, which finished Wednesday, was excellent. No word on whether it's getting a third season, but the ratings weren't there and the showrunner seems resigned to the fact that it's probably over.
Black Mirror: It's a British anthology show that was shown here on DirecTV's Audience Network. If you can find a way to watch it, DO IT. It's like a modern day Twilight Zone, imagining these scenarios in the not-too-distant future as social media and other aspects of our culture continue to spin out of control and telling amazing stories about it. I've seen two episodes: in the first, someone kidnaps a very popular member of the royal family and threatens to kill her (through a Youtube video, with the threat and demands being read by the Princess) if the Prime Minister doesn't have sex with a pig on live TV. The second, "Fifteen Million Merits," was outstanding. From Wiki:
A satire on entertainment shows and our insatiable thirst for distraction set in a sarcastic version of a future reality. In this world, everyone must cycle on exercise bikes, arranged in cells, in order to power their surroundings and generate currency for themselves called Merits. Everyone is dressed in a grey tracksuit and has a "doppel", a virtual avatar that people can customise with clothes, for a fee of merits. Everyday activities are constantly interrupted by advertisements that cannot be skipped or ignored without financial penalty. Obese people are considered to be second-class citizens, and either work as cleaners around the machines (where they receive verbal abuse) or are humiliated on game shows.
The third episode, which I haven't watched yet, is called "The Entire History of You". Robert Downey Jr.'s production company bought the film rights, so a version of that episode will be coming to theaters at some point in the future. There are six episodes in all, so it won't take long for you to gobble them up.
The Wrong Mans: Another British show, this one a very well-done mixture of spy thriller and wrong-place, wrong-time comedy. From hulu: "Two lowly office workers Sam (Mathew Baynton) and Phil (James Corden) become caught up in a deadly criminal conspiracy after Sam answers a ringing phone at the scene of a horrific car crash." Corden, who costars, is the guy taking over the Late Late Show from Craig Ferguson. It only has six half-hour episodes, so it's a quick watch, but well worth it.
I watch several other shows, but I feel good recommending those three for just about anyone who likes good TV.

Homeland - omg why aren't you watching this? Walking Dead - I'm with Hort, but I will admit that last season was significantly improved. Gracepoint - Premiered last night and started out well enough. I usually dismiss network shows right up front, so this had to bring something to keep me around. Brooklyn 99 - Right in line with my sense of humor. I'll understand if it doesn't fit yours. I love Andre Braugher's character.
I also gave Legends a shot. omgwtf it is awful

When I saw the previews for Brooklyn 99 before it premiered, I remember thinking it would be canceled after 3 episodes. I was blown away when it won an academy award, and now I'm suddenly interested in checking it out. Don't think I've come across it on Netflix Instant, but I haven't really looked.
Re: Homeland, as I've been told, the show essentially peaked in Season 1, and is just a horrible disappointment, ultimately (I have zero context for this, as I've never seen 5 minutes of it).
Anyone besides TAD watch the BBC Sherlock Holmes show?? I'm interested, but can't trust TAD, as he loves everything from Great Britain. I need a more level perspective.

I watch Sherlock.. It's excellent. Not as good as Luther, though, as far as BBC shows are concerned.

Sherlock is great. One of the best series imo. Part of the reason is that it's a mini-series and you only get a small does each year and not even every year.
I will watch the walking dead for the same reasons as listed above.
I'm finishing up S5 of White Collar right now. Kind of like a TV show version of Catch Me If You Can. The show's leads are great (Neal) and good (Peter) but they aren't Leo and Hanks.
I will probably watch Gotham at some point. It seems like a fresh take at Batman (long before Batman) if done well.

Love Blacklist, Chicago PD & A Person of Interest. That's about it until The Following comes back in January.

Probably the show I've enjoyed most over the last few years.

I'm downloading the first season of Man About The House to see what it's like.
I'm a fan of 1970s British tv where the censorship boundaries were a bit untested and shows were more tit-and-bum. For example there was a character on another '70s show that went on about "her pussy" every episode.

You don't need to see last season. I've got the premiere on my DVR. Can't wait to get around to it.

I'm downloading the first season of Man About The House to see what it's like. Up to the end of series 1, it's pretty good. The "eye candy" blonde is a bit from the Big Book Of British Smiles though.

I watched Turn (Washington's spies) and thought it was interesting. A little dry and boring in parts but it's story building. A few things work out conveniently but nothing like the ultra intense and one in a trillion scenarios that are common in the best shows right now. More down to Earth and they seem to have set things up nicely for season 2. Assuming that there is an S2 since it's not a show for everyone.

The Knick - Cinemax - 8/10 - This show is not easy to watch and not happy. Now that I've got you all excited.. It's a lot like the movie, 'There Will be Blood', in the sense that you are basically just watching one big downward spiral the whole time. But, It's good. Clive Owen boarders on amazing. I suggest you give it a watch, but, make sure it's something you can give your full attention to, and don't expect to be in a good mood when the episode is over.
The Blacklist - NBC - 6/10 - This one is much easier to watch, and doesn't really need the same kind of attention. It's entertaining enough to get you by though and worth watching if there's nothing better on.

I was flipping between the WS game and Constantine last night and I think it's going to be my new favorite show. If you don't know it's about an exorcist (and I'm assuming is based off the 2005 movie starring Keanu Reaves). I liked the pace, story and characters and the plot introduced the show well.
Recently I've seen Madam Secretary (its Meh but I'll tune in for Tea Leoni <3), Gotham (don't care for the comic bookish acting and outfits) and Scorpion, which isn't too bad, although the quick paced dialogue barely gives my brain time to process what is happening sometimes. I also think the characters in the show lack chemistry thus far.
