Pretty damn entertaining game. Would really put an exclamation point on the A's collapse if they lost.

So we build ourselves a super-awesome pitching roster and we can't defend 8 in a play-off game? Fun game. Those pesky Royals sort of remind me of the 2002 Angels, except that those Angels could hit a few homers and these Royals can swipe bags when they happen to get on base.
Who would have expected a big decline from the A's since the Lester trade? This game was pretty much a microcosm of that. One Bay Area team down, another one hopefully bites the dust tomorrow too.

From the looks of things our hitting was a mirage for most of the season. Probably not the best idea to trade Cespedes

From the looks of things our hitting was a mirage for most of the season. Probably not the best idea to trade Cespedes I thought dealing Cespedes could have come back to bite the A's, even if they sort of needed Lester too. Kazmir figured to tire down the stretch, Hammel wasn't going to be as good as he was for the Cubs, and Samardzija and Gray are relatively inexperienced pitching in postseason games. The offense wasn't the culprit for tonight though.

Pulling hard for Pittsburgh tonight (sorry GF) but I'm picking San Francisco. For what it's worth I was pulling for the A's last night but picked KC.

Pittsburgh wins, goes all the way to the end and faces the Royals.
Suicide squeeze to win game 7.

I dunno, I could see it going either way. I mean if they lose the last game and the Cardinals lose too he's gonna get a ton of crap for not going for it and possibly avoiding the wild card game altogether. On the other hand, Adam Wainwright.
