13 team standard 5x5 $260 auction with 3 keepers for 1 year only.
I give Stanton at $29 and Dee Gordon at $12.
I get Kluber for $7 and Carrasco for $4.
I understand the concept of keep the studs, but I believe in value gained though the keepers and of course during the auction. I simply can't come up with a scenario that I can't accept this trade offer.
I am very interested in your opinions and now that the season is upon us, I will be on more regularly and WHIR.

I would do it. Your getting $30 which allows you to pick up a stud. With only 39 players gone you'll get a player worth $20-25 with the extra $30, and you'll have some extra to put on another high end player.
So Kluber, Carrasco, plus stud player for $25, plus $5 left over > Stanton and Gordon

I don't agree. In a league like this a guy like Stanton must go for 45-50+ since so many top players are kept at big values. It's only 3 keepers but there could be a lot of dollars available but very few studs to spend them on. I don't see studs going for $25.
Who are the other keepers? If they are really cheap then I would be even more against this since you would have a lot dollars to spend.
I would find a way to trade Gordon though.

Since this is roto, I would err on keeping offense over arms. The savings are great, but it is conceivable you could pick up a few arms that keep you in contention through the auction. The undamaging power of Stanton and the nearly unparalleled, one cat winning speed of Gordon is worth the expenditure.

Gordon is setup to hit .250 with a .290 OBP which could kill his R totals and possibly even his SB totals. Luckily for him the Marlins have an even more inept hitter (Hechavaria) so it will be tough to put Gordon in the 8th spot (the SB killing lineup spot). I'm just not a fan of one category superstars that can't hit.

Well, he will have to make up the average elsewhere, but if Gordon gets to 50 SB at second base I would certainly say that is worth $12 so one doesn't have to worry about speed so much in the draft.

I guess it's all strategy but any HR, RBI and BA gains made by having a stud like Stanton are wiped out when you have a .250/1HR/30RBI guy on the team. It's great that you have SB's but now you need help in every other category. I would much rather get a one dimensional SB guy late in the draft even if they only get 25-30 SB's.

The fewer keepers you are allowed, the higher the priority on keeping top talent, almost regardless of price. There is no way I would trade a top 5 bat like Stanton in this format. Especially not for a pitcher.
As a side note, I dont think Gordon is all that valuable so if you can package him + another non-Stanton player for a top hitter i would do it. I expect him him to be productive in 2 categories, and a detriment in every other.
