If the 5-90 deal is correct then I like the deal for Boston. He is being a bit underrated this off-season IMO. Bogearts seems to get no love since Fat Panda seems to be headed east as well.

Did they really sign him to play SS? Yikes.

I suspect that he's insurance at 3rd in case they don't sign Pablo, SS if Bogarts sucks and LF as a last resort.

I think 5x18 is about 50 mil less then I thought he'd get. I would have loved my A's to have a crack at that price, but I guess Butler and Shark and Kazmir are already being paid and 80mil only goes so far

Rumors swirling about Sandoval not being far behind. I do wonder, then, what they do with Xander. Give up on him already?

I'm seeing 5 years, $100 million, Sandoval to Red Sox.

I saw speculation that Hanley moves to the OF

I just don't think Panda is worth the risk + dollars. A big fat guy whose hitting is gradually getting worse. In 2014 he had an XBH every 13 ABs (terrible), and his BB/K was worse then .50. And OBP .324 This season gets you $100mil?
If you stretch him to 2013-2014 his power (12.65 AB/XBH) has been similar to Starlin Castro and Gordon Beckham, and a little behind "powerhouses" Nate McLouth and Grady Sizemore.
$100mil you say....

Gotta figure he will benefit from 82 games in Boston instead of San Fran.

I doubt Boston is done making moves, I like the Hanley signing on its own and Panda even at 20 mil per year. I hear Boston is still under the lux cap. Probably have 1 more big trade in the works and a pitching signing. Lots off offseason to go.

I'm sure they're (Boston) going to push hard for Lester. I've read 6 years, $120 million as an offer. One would think a team like the Cubs could trump that, though. Regardless, he could potentially take less to return to the Sox. It's not like $120 million is peanuts.
Where do we think Scherzer ends up? Pinstripes??

Yankees, Toronto, Boston, Houston, SF, CHC I'd install Cubs as early favourites, they now have "Russell Martin money" to throw into whatever new pot they'd like to buy

Sources: Red Sox and Dodgers agree on a trade sending Hanley, Panda, Pedroia and Brock Holt to the Dodgers for Erisbel Arruebarena and a handful for prospects three years from now.

I'm getting the feeling that Cole Hamels to the Red Sox is a lock at this point. In which case, The Yankees are sure to counter by signing Lester in their face.

Napoli is not going back to catcher. Craig will likely be a reserve until an injury happens.
Hamels is going to be a good get this offseason. It should take a lot to get him but he's really good and locked up for awhile (but not forever).

I see:
C Vazquez 1B Napoli 2B Pedroia SS Bogaerts 3B Sandoval LF Ramirez CF Betts RF Castillo
One of Cespedes or Victorino will be traded, with the team hanging on to the other in case the Hanley-in-LF experiment doesn't work out and/or Bogaerts is sent back to the minors for more seasoning. However, if they can get good deals for both, they'd probably go ahead and do that. Craig, Holt and Bradley are all OF options even without Victorino and Cespedes.

Didn't they do this a few years ago and it blew up in their face. Really surprised that they are going down a very similar path. Not sure there is another team that will bail them out if this doesn't work out as planned.

Hamels is going to be a good get this offseason. It should take a lot to get him but he's really good and locked up for awhile (but not forever). Hamels has 4/96 left on his contract and Amaro wants the sky back in trade.
